Special Olympics Snowboarding \u2013 Building a New Pathway<\/h3>\n

Alberta Snowboard is proud to be working in partnership with Special Olympics Alberta<\/a> to help introduce and grow snowboarding opportunities for athletes across the province.<\/p>\n

Special Olympics Alberta is part of a national and international movement that provides year-round sport, training, and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through Special Olympics Canada<\/a> and Special Olympics North America<\/a>, athletes are supported within a broader global network focused on inclusion, empowerment, and community through sport.<\/p>\n

Currently, snowboarding is not an established discipline within Special Olympics programming. This creates a unique and exciting opportunity to build something new.<\/p>\n

Together, Alberta Snowboard and Special Olympics Alberta are collaborating to pilot snowboarding opportunities and develop a sustainable pathway for athletes. In the 2025\u20132026 season, we delivered our first Try-It Day, introducing participants to snowboarding in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. Early interest and engagement have been strong, and we are committed to continuing to grow this initiative.<\/p>\n

This partnership represents more than just a new program. It is about creating access, building confidence, and expanding what is possible within sport in Alberta.<\/p>\n

As we move forward, we are looking to grow this initiative through community support. We welcome coaches, volunteers, and partners who are interested in helping develop and sustain this program for the future.<\/p>\n
