Welcome to all existing, new and potential PTSA/Canada Snowboard Member Clubs. This page is designed to provide you with all the information you will require relating to club sanctioning requirements, member management, activity sanctions, insurance and accident reporting.
Canada Snowboard is excited to continue to grow our relationship with our Membership Platform ‘SnowReg’ and this season, we are launching the ability for clubs to collect their own club programming registration fees through SnowReg.

All club sanctioning is processed online through SnowReg. A club must follow the appropriate PTSA link below to sanction their club for 2023/2024 Season (a club cannot operate just under the umbrella of Canada Snowboard). Please contact your Alberta Snowboard if you would like assistance with completing your club sanctioning.

CLUB SANCTIONING REQUIREMENTS:
Club sanction requests are subject to approval by both Canada Snowboard and the Territorial/Provincial Snowboard Association (PTSA).
A club’s sanction request will only be approved if the club meets all the requirements listed below:
1) The online sanction request form and associated uploads are complete and accurate.
2) Club is committed to ensuring that all coaches in addition to staff and lead volunteers who work with children have a Criminal Record Check.
* Criminal Record Check: Verifies whether an individual has a criminal record and provides the applicant with the detailed information that can be legally disclosed.
3) All coaches have an active Canada Snowboard Membership in addition to current NCCP and Canada Snowboard coaching certifications.
4) The Head Coach of the club has a purchased a CAC Registration, either through Canada Snowboard (offered at $20 off if purchased at the time of purchasing their Canada Snowboard/PTSA Membership) or directly through the CAC.
5) All coaches understand and agree to the follow the Canada Snowboard Coaching Program Scope of Practice Policy and only coach athletes and/or lead sessions which are within their scope of practice.
6) The club agrees to ensure that all its club members have a current Canada Snowboard Membership.
7) The club receives permission from the ski area to operate its programs. For an example of a letter of permission from a Ski Hill/Resort click Here
8) The club reviews and agrees to abide by the Canada Snowboard Club Sanctioning Policy
9) Follow the Canada Snowboard Accident and Incident Reporting Procedures
* Club Sanction Request processing times are usually between 5-10 business days.
ACTIVITY SANCTION REQUEST
An Activity/Event Sanction request is required for all Canada Snowboard/PTSA Sanctioned Events and Special Activites which are not included in the pre-approved activity list.
Types of special activities include:
* Trampoline training;
* Air bag training;
* Water ramp training;
* Dry Slope;
* Skateboarding;
* Wake Boarding;
* Out of Country Training Camps;
* Back Country Snowboarding and Camping;
* Recreational Mountain biking / Road cycling;
These activities must be directly related to the Club’s Training Plans and pose no risk to the General Public.
Standard activities that are included in your club sanction request are listed in the pre-approved activity list as well as include the following:
* Recreational snowboarding when under the direct supervision of a coach;
* Competitive snowboarding and sanctioned events;
* Attending sanctioned competitions;
* Hosting sanctioned competitions;
* Coaching courses;
* Dryland training/Conditioning programs – provided that these are established, set-up, controlled and monitored by suitably trained specialists, include:
* Running;
* Hiking;
* Swimming;
* Road cycling
Only as a training activity as prescribed by a coach or sports science regardless of the type of bike used in that activity
* Mountain biking (off the road “mountain biking” training activities)
* Only as a training activity as prescribed by a coach or sports science. Note: Mountain biking must not be done alone, must be supervised.
* Third party coverage ONLY which means that there is insurance coverage if the athlete runs into and is sued by a hiker on the trail.
* NO second party coverage (there is no coverage when the athlete gets injured and sues the coach or another athlete for negligence for suggesting that the athlete train on that trail.)
To submit an activity sanction, a club must either include information on the activity in their Annual Club Sanctioning or complete an Activity Sanction Request through SnowReg.
