FIS LICENSING 

A license to participate in FIS races is issued by Canada Snowboard to riders who fulfil the criteria for participation. The FIS license year begins on July 1st, and concludes June 30th of the following year.

A FIS license allows riders aged 13+ (born 2012 and earlier in the 2025-2026 season) the ability to participate in FIS sanctioned competitions. Major FIS events (World Cup, World Championships and Olympic Winter Games will have additional minimum criteria (age / experience)  set by both the international and national federations for entrance.

The criteria for receiving a Canadian FIS license is as follows:

  • Valid copy of a current Canadian Passport
  • Fully executed FIS athletes declaration

Note – a FIS license can only be issued to an individual for one nation regardless if a rider has dual citizenship.
