Alberta Snowboarding  ("ASA") was incorporated under the Societies Act of the Province of Alberta on April 18, 1989. Since then the ASA has operated as a non-profit provincial sports association promoting the development of snowboard training and competition in the province of Alberta.

The ASA is recognized as the official provincial sports organization responsible for the governance of snowboarding by the Canada~Snowboard ("C~S"). Canada~Snowboard was established in 1991 as the governing body for the competitive sport of snowboarding in Canada. C~S sanctions, monitors and assists all competitive snowboarding programs held in Canada. They are recognized as the official representative of snowboarding in Canada by national and international groups such as The Canadian Ski and Snowboard Association (CSSA), the Federation Internationale de Ski (FIS), the World Snowboard Federation (WSF) and the Canadian Olympic Association (COA).

The Canadian Ski and Snowboarding Association (CSSA) represents Canada on the world governing body for skiing and snowboarding - Federation Internationale de Ski (FIS).

It is the mission of C~S is to foster and facilitate ongoing development of Canadian Snowboarding athletes, coaches and officials from a grassroots" level through to an elite internatonal and Olympic competition level including National and Junior National Snowboarding teams.

The ASA provides support to the C~S mission as:

A volunteer based organization advocating the sport of snowboarding by sanctioning of high quality events and; an organization that advocates and supports, but does not administer, the development of clubs, shops, ski and snowboard hill operators.

The Mission of the ASA is to be recognized as providing support to the growth of Canada's most exciting and well organized snowboarding clubs and events.

Canada Winter Games

The Canada Winter Games will will be taking place in Halifax in 2011 and Alberta will be represented! The CWG are one of Canada's premier events. To find out more about the games to CWG 2011
