Are you passionate about snowboarding and looking to get more involved in the sport? Volunteering with Alberta Snowboard is a great way to support the snowboard community, get behind-the-scenes experience at events, and help athletes succeed from grassroots programs to high-performance competitions.
Volunteer opportunities are plentiful and also varied from those who wish to be on course, boots on the ground and working towards their officials levels, to those who want to be part of the community but may not be riders. Every role is valuable and a key component to operational event success.
Whether you’re new to the sport or a seasoned snowboarder, volunteering with Alberta Snowboard is a rewarding way to contribute to your local snowboard community.
Volunteer roles include but are not limited to;
- Event set-up and tear down (inside and outside roles)
- Event Admin (athlete and volunteer check-in, equipment management, schedule support, result compliation etc.)
- Course Worker (jump spotter, gate judge, course worker (jump and feature maintenance)
- Athlete support (wrangler, bib collector, awards ceremony lead)
In addition to our volunteer roles, our sport needs Officials! These are our volunteers who are committed to becoming leaders within our sport, focusing on learning the rules, implementing them all whilst creating a fun, inclusive and safe sport environment,
Officials roles include but are not limited to;
- Event Leaders ( Technical Delegate, Chief of Competition, Start and Finish Referees, Section Chiefs etc. )
- Competition Support (Timing, etc.)
Alberta Snowboard, in partnership with Canada Snowboard, offers opportunities for individuals interested in becoming Technical Sport Officials. These are the specialized roles in competitions that ensure events are fair, safe, and run in accordance with national and international rules. The Canada Snowboard Officials Program includes several levels of training, starting from community-level events to higher-level provincial, national, and international competitions.
