JUDGES PROGRAM
Alberta Snowboard is committed to providing qualified judges across the province to ensure that all levels of competition have educated, passionate and community driven judges as part of the programming, to ensure that athletes have accurately produced competition results.
Judges are a requirement in the sport of competitive freestyle snowboarding where slopestyle, rail events, halfpipe and big air disciplines require a panel of educated, licensed judges to evaluate the performance of each competitor. This is done using a set of criteria, comparing each rider’s performance against the field of competition, where a final ranking is provided for all competitors.
Alberta Judges Education
Like most professions where new skills, methods, and criteria are fluid, there is a requirement to keep your knowledge on point to ensure you are providing the best service possible and judging is no different. With athletes continually pushing the limits, with new skills, elevated amplitude and new disciplines joining the freestyle snowboard world, ongoing education is critical for judges.
Alberta hosts provincial judge clinics periodically to support ongoing education with the province for individual looking to enter into the judging booth, and also for those judges lookig to keep their knowledge relevant for grassroots through to FIS C level competitions.
Please check out EVENTS to see if there are any upcoming judge clinics within the province.
