THE EVENT 

Canada Snowboard and Alberta Snowboarding are proud to host the 2023 AIR NATION FREESTYLE NATIONALS presented by TOYOTA and BURTON; a national championship that gathers the rising starts in Freestyle Snowboarding from across the country. From February 12th-17th,  2023 athletes will do their best to polish up their tricks and impress the judges on the Half Pipe and the Slope Style course WinSport Canada Olympic Park (COP). The Big Air Event will also be a highlight of the weeks events.

THE RESORT 

The 2023 AIR NATION FREESTYLE NATIONALS presented by TOYOTA & BURTON will be held at WinSport, COP conveniently located in the South West of Calgary. WinSport, COP is looking forward to hosting the nations top freestyle athletes for an exciting week of competition. Located in Calgary, Alberta, WinSport COP is the home of the 1988 Winter Olympics and is a world class training facility to numerous sports. Its night riding allows young Athletes the ability to train after school in the only 22 foot pipe in Canada and one of the only night lit 22” pipes in North America. With excellent snowmaking abilities Winsport is able to build quality jumps for the Slopestyle athletes and numerous courses for riders of all abilities.

Registration Deadline Online registration will close at 20h00 on February 10th,  2023. 

International Athletes Notice 

In order to confirm your registration, the Event Organizers need to receive a written confirmation from your National Snowboard Association confirming that you are in good standing, prior to your arrival at the event. The confirmation letter can be submitted by email to: registration@albertasnowboarding.com 

Note: A valid FIS License is required to be listed on the FIS ranking 

Eligibility – NorAm Competitions 

Competitors must also hold a valid FIS License in order to be listed on the FIS ranking. Canadian athletes can purchase FIS license, SAIP insurance and Provincial or Territorial Snowboard Association Membership before registering through your Provincial or Territorial Association.

CANADIAN COACHES REGISTRATION 

All Canadian coaches at events must register and meet the Canadian Minimum Coach 

Certification Standards. Please register for the event by using the Coach Registration Link To ensure you fully understand the certification requirements, review the Coach Minimum Standards Policy 

COACHES REGISTRATION: Is found on the event registration page of each event in SnowReg

Lift tickets for coaches will be available at the Coaches meeting the night before the event. 

LIFT TICKETS 

Lift Tickets for training are available at the Hall of Fame in the Frank King Day Lodge for $34. 

REFUND POLICY 

Event Registration Fee refunds require the approval of the Alberta Snowboarding Executive Director. 

Request for refund must be submitted by email to: registration@albertasnowboarding.com 

The following are viable reasons for permitting Event Registration Fee refunds:  

  • Injury sustained prior to event training, preventing participation in event – must be confirmed with a doctor’s note.
  • Exceptions: hardship special circumstances require the prior approval of Alberta Snowboarding Executive Director. 

Credit card refunds must be processed via card transaction credit. 

Lift Tickets are not refundable. 

SANCTION 

Alberta Snowboarding Association, Canada Snowboard, the World Snowboard Federation and the International Ski & Snowboard Federation sanction the 2023 AIR NATION FREESTYLE NATIONALS presented by TOYOTA & BURTON as a FIS North American Cup and WSF National event. 

RULES & REGULATIONS 

Certified helmets are mandatory for all training and competitions. Competitions are run in accordance with the provincial level rules. Detailed rules are available HERE 

ANTI-DOPING 

Canada Snowboard enforces the guidelines set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in accordance with FIS regulations. For more information on anti-doping procedures and guidelines, Click HERE (WADA) and/or HERE (FIS) 

ACCOMMODATION 

Four Points Sheraton, Calgary West, is pleased to offer a discounted rate of $119 for a Queen Standard room (2 Queen beds) and $139 for a Queen Suite (2 Queen beds and a pullout sofa) for accommodations – February 11-19, 2023.
